[MANILA] Health experts are calling on countries in the Asia-Pacific to set national action plans to address the escalating impact of viral hepatitis which kills over a million people in the region every year.
In a policy forum convened last March 14 in Brisbane, Australia, the Coalition to Eradicate Viral Hepatitis in Asia Pacific
(CEVHAP), a non-profit, multidisciplinary health expert group,
emphasised the need for “cross-sector partnerships” involving
policymakers, healthcare professionals, patients and other stakeholders
in the development of national strategies to effectively tackle the disease.
CEVHAP also launched during the event an interactive map showing global and country-level mortality data on viral hepatitis.
