Dr. Phil Berry was on the brink of death when an organ donation saved his life nearly 30 years ago.
Now
the 77-year-old Dallas orthopedic surgeon will be in the national
spotlight in the Rose Parade on Thursday as he continues his fight to
persuade others to donate their organs.
Berry will ride on the
Donate Life Texas float in the Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena,
Calif., alongside others who have received organs and family members of
donors. His eight grandchildren will get to watch him on national
television, almost three decades after his near-fatal brush with
hepatitis B.
